Our product has mostly two usages: it can be installed as insulation under plaster or as a decorative element.

To have a low thermal conductivity the reed stalks shouldn't be broken. Profusely broken stalks in the reed board cause worse insulation parameters.

Reed boards for decorative use are made from reed selected by even thickness and colour. Reed is divided extra evenly.

Our reed boards are made from natural reed cut from the waterside of Lake Võrtsjärv (the biggest inland lake in Estonia).

Reed board was and is used in insulating walls and ceilings and also for sound isolation. Reed board is also the best for insulating interior of blockhouses and for using under plaster to keep it from cracking due to humility.

Thermal conductivity of reed board: 0,055 W/ mK (Construction Resources, UK)

Rooplaat

Meie toodetud rooplaate kasutatakse valdavalt kaheks otstarbeks: krohvialuseks soojustuseks ja dekoratiivseks kasutamiseks.

Selleks, et rooplaat omaks madalat soojaerijuhtivust, st oleks hea isolatsioonimaterjal, peavad rookõrred olema plaadis terved! Ohtralt katkiseid kõrsi sisaldava rooplaadi isolatsiooni parameetrid on tunduvalt kehvemad.

Dekoratiivseks kasutuseks tehtud plaadid valmistatakse valitud ühtlase jämeduse ja värviga roost ning roog jaotatakse plaadis eriti ühtlaselt.

Meie rooplaadid on valmistatud Võrtsjärve kaldaaladelt lõigatud pilliroost.

Pillirooplaadi soojaerijuhtivus on 0,055 W/mK (Construction Resources, UK)

Reed

pnm1 091

" I bend, and break not" ("Je plie, et ne romps pas")

-The Oak and the Reed, (Le chêne et le roseau)

CHARASTERISTICS:

"Morphologically the Common Reed is a perennial hydrophyte-geophyte with usually very high shoots (up to 4m, seldom even 7m). The Common Reed usually forms dense stands and approximately 200 shoots of 1m2 can be found..." ( Page 8)

The Common Reed is able to grow in a very wide array of habitats; fens, shallow lakes, salt marshes, open aquatic communities." (Page 9)

"In recent decades , the Common Reed has become a serious conservation problem because is has spread into ecologically valuable habitats and as a result of being a strong competitor, it has eliminated most other species." (Page 9)

USAGE:

Reed has been used for shelter, food and musical instruments in the area around the Gulf of Finland since prehistoric times.  With the spread of the use of agriculture in the area, reed was found useful as  cattle feed.

From the beginning of the 17th century, reed was used to build roofing for outbuildings, both on its own and with straw. Reed was also used for different kinds of plastering in building processes.

The reed carpets were used on plant frames to protect the plants from the sun and the cold. The reed straws were used in weaving for spooling strings, and blooming reeds were used for padding mattresses. The inflorescences were also used to dye wool green. The roots of the reed were used as food and medicine.

Overall, reed has been a very important building material but also an important merchandise. Through changes in agriculture and new inventions, the usage of reed has decreased.
